Lightening Strike

Last evening we had a clouded sky. Suddenly we heard loud thunders followed by lightening. Then it started raining.
A couple with their 12 year old son were going along the road When rain started, they ran to a nearby tree to protect themselves from rain.
Minutes later there was a loud thunder and lightening struck them.
The mother and the son died on the spot, and the man got severely injured Now he is hospitalized and his condition is very critical

I'm sorry that happened.
There used to be commercials on television here warning people not to seek shelter under a tree if there was lightning during a rainstorm because the lightning could be drawn to a tree and kill the people under it. (I stopped watching television more than 20 years ago so don't know if those commercials are still broadcast or not.)

We all had seen the warning. Lightening is attracted to the trees, especially tall trees. It is drawn by water bodies also. Whenever there is thunder and lightening, we shouldn't take shelter under any tree. And, if we are in a pond or river, we should come out immediately..

But why have you stopped watching television ??
Does watching tv aggravate your eye problem

I am sorry to hear that.. i hope the man will recover soon.
I am afraid of lightning. I usually don't go out of the house when there's thunder and lightning

Yes, lightening is drawn to trees.Therefore we should not take shelter under a tree when there is thunderstorm and lightening. If we are in a pond or bathing in a river, we should immediately come out.

It was really very shocking and heartbreaking..They were very simple and polite persons. The man is still in the hospital.
