Why don't they ask?

It is true that I liked milk chocolates and have been singing its praises. But my choice has changed since the last couple of years and I only go for the dark chocolates. Someone here even said I was not sophisticated when I told them I did not like dark chocolates. All this is history now. At a recent event where our family got together many arrived from other countries where they have settled now, they all brought me milk chocolates expecting me to go ga ga over them. . If only they asked me. Our tastes, likes and dilikes keep changing Don;t they?

when i was a child, I dont like dark chocolate because its too bitter for me. But when I was 20 years old my mom's bestfriend gave me bunch of dark chocolate. At first I just ignore it since I know for sure its too bitter for me. But one day while im cleaning our fridge I saw it, again so I tried, and guess what? i really loved the taste. I also learned that dark chocolates are healthy so thats how i started eating dark chocolate than milk chocolate.

Maybe they just wanted to surprise you showing that they still remember your favorite. The intention seems to be good here. Yes, our tastes, likes and dislikes change. It is always better to ask before getting something for someone

None of those who came ever bothered to find out what, where and how I am. It is just that they hoped they would all have a good time at that event and just did their duty

@allknowing That's unfortunate. But the sad reality of current times. Most of the youngsters don't stay connected on a daily basis. But they would be normal when you meet them and they will be all okay leaving and not staying connected till they meet you again.

They surely remembered that you liked milk chocolate more. This is the reason why I never offer "food", because taste changes.

Even other gifts that one brings they could be of no use many a time.

Those family members thought they knew your tastes but yes, they should have asked if the milk chocolates were still your favorites. At least their hearts were in the right place.

Yes, as we grow old our taste change. I didn't love vegetables when I was young. I loved non- veg and potatoes only. Now I love vegetables and take non- veg only thrice a week.

It is not just about food. Whatever gifts one brings many may not be of any use.
