Good bye my once working well keyboard

Philippines
July 29, 2025 1:35am CST
Hello there It was yesterday when my keyboard started malfunctioning. It caused me to panic when I couldn’t log in to my laptop. I thought some one hacked the password. I tried to removed and cleaned it but it was to no avail. When ever I tried to clean the keys, the V would come out as N in the screen. I checked some pics to make this post and realized that I bought this back in 2019. So, it’s been six years since I had this keyboard. Now my new keyboard arrived, it’s time to let this one go. It was good run six years. Mom had beg me for new replacement for a while now. Have a nice day

We have a computer in our house too. We changed our keyboard maybe a year or two years ago.

Maybe you use your computer way too often @cabuyogty that the keyboard eventually gave in.

Hello @cherigucchi Yes it did. My only mistake is that I didn't put a plastic on it for protection from dust.

Six years is an impressive lifespan for a keyboard! It definitely earned its keep, even if it pulled a last-minute stunt with that V-to-N trick. Good thing your new one has arrived—your fingers deserve the treat. And hey, looks like your mom knew what she was talking about all along!

@Letranknight2015 Well, I think with a bit of savings and persistence, you might just be able to replace that one with a new one.

It really gave in @rsa101. Sadly, what I really want replace is my laptop since it's more than ten years old now.

@Letranknight2015 I hope you're right. Six years was a long time for a keyboard, though.

I hate when that happens, I know the feeling I used a onscreen keyboard for a long time & I NEVER shut my computer down so I don't have to worry about logging in I let it go to sleep.

Hello @2ndchances24 I am not sure about that. That would certainly kill my laptop if that ever happens.

At least now the problem is solved My laptop is also old, probably over 6 six years and it still works fine. Sometimes if I open more software, then it will be slow. Besides, I have no more complaints about it.

It always seems to be the row of letters where the V and N are that begin to malfunction for me too. Hope you like your new keyboard.

Keyboards definitely do not last forever. I know this firsthand. Very frustrating when they do, though.

@Letranknight2015 The ones built into laptops are the worst. I can't get them to last at all. I am using an external keyboard on mine as we speak.
