Free Lunch for us today

July 29, 2025 10:41am CST
Free Lunch. We just got a Free Lunch. And very tasty it was. We were along at the Community Garden looking at plants and I took the opportunity to see what was in the food donation chilled box. So I got a Tesco Spaghetti Carbonara And a Tesco Pasta Bake, Tomato and Mozzarella Oh and a Caesar Salad Free of charge Cost Zilch Zero Nada Nil And here it is. This lot would have cost about £10 But we don't buy stuffike this anyway as we cook from scratch. The Community garden food shed is set up for people who cannot afford to buy shopping but people are too lazy to go get what is there , or even look. I stop in and look every time we are passing. Ya4CommunityGarden Any such initiatives near you?

That's a good free meal. We have community fridge and community wardrobe set ups here. You can pack the leftover food or extra food and drop in the fridge. Your old clothes and other useful stuffs like shoes, bedding etc can be left in the wardrobe. Needy people can come and take it. It's a very nice initiative. Sadly people dump their things in bad shape there. At times it looks like a garbage.

It's good that it is in place to help poor people though More places should do this

@Ineeddentures Yes. There is good reason to have such places. I just hope that people realise it and leave things there in a dignified way. Many just use it as a dumping ground. That is really terrible!!!

@Ineeddentures In what way do you contribute?

Well not really. It's intended as a community thing for those who contribute to the garden like we do. Hardly anyone uses or contributes. We have done for 8 years. If we didn't use it the food would get thrown out and the whole point is to cut down waste.

That's an awesome initiative. I guess there are very few there who need the service. I hope a similar event will also be held in the impoverished areas here in our city. Many street children are begging for food. That's why it is one of my dreams to offer similar events. The food looks delectable, especially the spaghetti carbonara. May I have some, please?

A free library!! I think I might suggest taking in books. It might draw more people in if we had some books for people to have.

There are a couple in Somerset where we have the caravan. I think I heard one was coming to our town next month ….im sure that will be well used …..

It will have a line like the food aid stations in Gaza At least the people lining up to get food in your town won't get murdered by the terrorist Israeli government and IDF
