I was about to give up!

Yesterday, my two-year-old+ managed to break both my cellphone and laptop within an hour. First, he accidentally spilled ramen on my cellphone while eating. I had to place the phone inside the rice container so it would dry. Later, while I was letting the baby sleep, I allowed him to watch on my laptop. He was eating again and accidentally spilled the rice on the keypads. The keypads got all warbled. When I intend to capitalize the word, it gives me the lower-case and vice versa. I was about to ask for help here, but I discovered that there was food debris inside the keypads, so I cleaned them out. Now, they're working quite well. It’s funny and frustrating, however, taking care of my grandkids reminded me that toddlers explore everything, so I have to be vigilant. The most important thing is that I am blessed to be spending some time with them before I say goodbye to this mundane existence.

That’s both chaotic and oddly heartwarming Toddlers really have a talent for turning everyday moments into full-blown adventures—spilled ramen, rice invasions, and unintentional tech sabotage all in one day! But you handled it like a champ. A little rice, a little patience, and some good old-fashioned detective work saved the day. And yeah, it’s frustrating in the moment, but there’s also something so tender in being part of their curious little world. You’re right—the messes, the noise, even the broken gadgets—they all come with the gift of time shared. And that’s something no laptop can replace.

Thank you. Right, that's true. The time I spent with them can never be replaced with any gadget. You reminded me of the importance of babysitting my grandkids, Thanks for the wonderful response.

@Jenaisle ''The time I spent with them can never be replaced with any gadget.'' Spot on...in the end, the gadgets, although expensive, are not important like they are. I know babysitting can be tough at times. I'm sure your loving care is much appreciated.

@Jenaisle - Give him a toy to play, he is too young to stare at a screen.

I live with children as it is my work. I have to be ever vigilant as they cannot spoil or destroy anything. I don't give them my phone. My laptop unfortunately "smoked" while recharging the battery. Since then I am working without a laptop.

That's interesting to know. Yes, they can. I guess you're teaching or caretaking kids?

I think you need to remind him not to eat near you gadgets to avoid spilling their food on the gadgets. In our house, my niece and nephews are not allowed to eat or drink while using gadgets. they need to eat first or drink first before they can use any gadget, we also explained to them why they need to follow our rules in using gadgets, so far they are obedient and follows our rules. we also limit them in using gadgets so that they could still be physically active. anyway, there's a saying that "my child, my rule" so it depends on you on how you want to raise your grandkids.
