Squirrelly Day

Today was squirrelly, no doubt. The, ahem, highlights included springing my great-nephew from his hospital prison, a mad dash for an air conditioner, and a strange detour.
My niece’s A/C broke in her house. Since she’s renting, she had to rely on the landlord. The repairman wasn’t too prompt, so she ordered a window A/C from Lowe’s and I went to pick it up for her while she busted her son out of the hospital.
After that, I was on my way out of town when my GPS kept rerouting me for “road closures.” Bottom line: it had me on a collision course with Nashville traffic at rush hour. Listen, Nashville is no fun to drive through at 3 AM, but 3 PM is out of the question.
So I went home and took a nap.
After the nap I headed south. While I’m not through Nashville (I’m in Bowling Green), I’ll be able to skirt through it when traffic is just a nightmare (not during rush hour when it’s an impossible nightmare).
Believe me, there’s a lot more to it than this, but it was a blessed day despite the craziness!
The photo is through a window at a squirrel feeding station that is set up behind the nature center at the Tippecanoe Battlefield.

If you need an A/C
A store here has a pile of them on sale
Took them in too late
Won't need them here again this year
Didn't need them anyway but some folks like telling everyone who will listen that they have A\C

The best time to buy them is at the end of the season!

Somehow I don't suppose we will ever buy one
Two cold air fans
Open windows
That's how we have always done it.
Mind you, climate change might change our thinking about A/C

I love watching squirrels, A very long time ago my mom and I had a favorite park we went to and always bought peanuts for the squirrels and they knew us and came and took peanuts from out hands,

I have some like that…but it’s been too hot to sit out in the backyard and feed them.

There’s a Bowling Green, Kentucky, Bowling Green, Ohio, Bowling Green, Missouri, Bowling Green, Florida, Bowling Green, Maryland, AND Bowling Green, Virginia! So we multiplied the weirdness!

Sounds like a nightmare. I remember driving in Phoenix (my husband was driving) at 10 pm; and the roads were packed...the same in San Francisco.

There are some cities I definitely plan to hit so I hit them at the “right time.” Atlanta, Chicago, and Nashville are tops on the list.

@FourWalls I've been to Chicago twice on a business trip. Our home office was in Chicago. I remember two things vividly...eating fresh crabmeat on ice and going to the top of the Sears Tower.

Since you are a true history buff, you do know that Bowling Green was a real person, right? He was a mentor to Abe Lincoln, and the Justice of the Peace for the little town of New Salem, IL. Lincoln was encouraged to study law by Green, who also provided him with books to study.
But you no doubt know all of this already, forgive me. I am babbling.

His name was spelled with an E (Bowling Greene). The town’s name is disputed as to whether it was named for the sport pitch (the sport is called bowls or more recently, lawn bowling) or the park in New York City where a statue of King George III was torn down at the start of the Revolutionary War in 1776 and melted to make bullets. (Of course, the park in NYC actually had a bowling green; hence, the name.)
No, I didn’t know that!

And, if the AC goes out again, she’s got this for a backup!
