Tired but can not sleep....

It's 10:52 PM and I just want to sleep. I had a long day with lots happening in the offline world. Can call it a very productive one too. In fact, I missed my afternoon power nap too as I was too caught up with things.
I have been yawning. But now that I am on my bed, I can not sleep. My body feels tired and my feet is hurting too. I had a hot shower to feel better. But despite all this, I am not getting the sleep. I came to bed at 10 and have been tossing and turning since then. I switched on the light and read few pages. And now I will just do some bit of mylotting. Hopefully, I will fall asleep in some time.
Does this happen to you too? Tired but not getting the sleep..
Hope that all is well in your myLot corner. Have a good time.
Good night from this part of the planet.

This happens when my brain gets cluttered with thoughts. I just keep repeating a word in my mind and that puts me to sleep

It's very unusual for me..I would generally sleep within two minutes of putting my head on pillow. I have a good sleep wake rhythm. This has happened a few times lately after my surgery. I just hope that it doesn't become a pattern.I would have not forced myself to sleep or bother. But I had working day next morning and had to wake up early. A little bit of mylotting made me sleep
And surprisingly, I was peaceful and had nothing bothering my mind
That's a good strategy and good that it works. It has worked with some of my special needs children. When they have meltdowns, humming their favourite tune, song, counting or even their favourite word numerous times calms them down.

No, I don't normally have that kind of problem. I fall asleep if I get bored.
I hope you can get to sleep soon. Good night!

@arunima25 I'm glad myLotting helped you fall asleep.
Sometimes, if my mind doesn't want to shut off, I close my eyes, put my head down and picture the color black... and keep thinking of blackness until my mind gets bored and I fall asleep.

@DaddyEvil That's a nice strategy to fall asleep. I will try that if next time I need to.

That's good that you fall asleep when bored. Sleep would be a good thing to utilise the boredom time.
It's very unusual for me. I will fall asleep within two minutes of putting my head on pillow. I sleep like a baby with a good sleep wake rhythm. It has happened a few times lately after my surgery. I hope that it doesn't become a pattern.
I did fall asleep a few minutes after mylotting

I have a small cup of warm milk with a pinch of turmeric a little before my bedtime. It's very unusual for me..I would generally sleep within two minutes of putting my head on pillow. Yes, it is. Especially when I sleep like a baby and I am fast asleep within two minutes of putting my head on the pillow. Off late, it has happened a few times. I hope it doesn't become a pattern
Good to know that you are sleeping better .

I have a horrible time sleeping. It's not unusual for me to be up 24-48 hours without sleep. I hope you get some sleep.

Your sleep cycle really seems badly impacted. It must be impacting your energy level and every other aspects of your day to day life. Is there anything like a therapy or medication that can help?

It happened to me a few years ago. I would get exhausted and feel sleepy, but couldn't sleep. It happened to me often, but now I fall asleep within ten minutes after getting to bed.

Happy that your sleep has improved over time. Sleep is the best natural healer.

@arunima25 If our mind keeps working, we can't sleep. You can't sleep if you continue trying to sleep. We sleep when all our attempts cease. I have experienced it when I was not employed. I used to "try" to sleep, but ended up staying awake.

@Shivram59 That's very TRUE. I have seen it happening with many in my friends and family circle.

That tired-but-can’t-sleep feeling is all too familiar. After a long and productive day, it’s no surprise your body craves rest, even if your mind is still active. Many have experienced the same—tossing, turning, yawning, yet remaining wide awake.
To help, consider trying a few techniques: practice deep breathing exercises (such as inhaling for 4 seconds, holding for 7 seconds, and exhaling for 8 seconds), progressively relax each part of your body, or jot down any thoughts occupying your mind. Incorporating a soothing lavender scent, playing soft music, or simply reminding yourself that it’s okay not to fall asleep immediately can reduce stress. With a little patience and relaxation, restful sleep will eventually follow.
