Lots of Driving and Scenery

There’s not much to talk about with today’s trip, because it was mostly drive. And scenery. Ooh, the scenery.
I had plans to take in some of the sights with the Boston Mountain Loop. However, good weather geek that I am, I checked the weather radar and noticed that the area was under a flood warning, so that’ll have to wait until next time.
The photo is from an overpass when I got off to have lunch. I had some BBQ chicken in a little hole-in-the-wall place next to a gas station. That’s usually where you find the best food. It was quite good! So was the scenery.
That is Lake Dardanelle at London, Arkansas.
I’m in Tulsa for a couple of days. Tomorrow I hope to head out to visit some of the Route 66 sites in town, as well as the Black Wall Street/Tulsa Massacre Museum. Y’all sleep well…I know I will!

I've been to London, Arkansas... It was a little tiny place 15 or so years ago when I was visiting a friend in the area. We drove by the lake and ate in a mom and pop place that had excellent fried chicken.
I've skirted around Tulsa... I don't like driving in big cities... I agree, the scenery in both Arkansas and Oklahoma can be beautiful.

I didn’t go into the town, but what I saw gave me the indication that it’s still a little tiny place.
I follow a Tulsa meteorologist on Facebook, and every day he’s posting where a wreck and major traffic backup are located.
Glad I got here and into my hotel before rush hour!
Scenery is amazing!!!

@DaddyEvil — the drive from Springfield to Branson was wonderful last time I took it!

@FourWalls I avoided Tulsa at all costs, driving wide around it! I still remember dad getting in a car wreck there once when I was little.
Missouri has scenery that is just as nice.

Be safe, but sounds like you know where to go. Pretty cool sites.

@FourWalls I bet locals always know. Why its its important to be nice to be people, no one wants to meet Billy Bob.

It’s a terrible story (the area known as “Black Wall Street” was attacked and destroyed by whites in 1921…the white media called it a “race riot”), but so much of history is terrible.

@FourWalls This is horrible, it's sad to discover those horrible stories of the past.

Doing my best. I got off the road early on Thursday because the truckers were engaged in their “ten minute pass” games on I-40. (They do it a lot in Indiana as well…annoying as all get-out!)

@FourWalls They think they own the road because they're so big.

Enjoy, I remember driving through Arkansas one time. It seemed like it was never going to end. It is a bigger state than you think.

Ages ago I visited a friend in Tulsa and got to see Gone With the Wind on the big screen when it came out again,
