Still thinking about the baking club

Oh man this is starting to stress me out. I am a member of an online cooking forum (shocker, right?) and asked if anyone had any ideas for things to do. There have been no shortage of them and included baking savory things like pizza, mini pot pies, etc. I mean really when you think about it we could do all sorts of things like mini meatloaves, nachos, etc. if you don't stick to the strict interpretation of "baking" as just sweets.
I'm going to do a survey of the students who attend the first meeting to see what they are interested in learning about. I don't want it to always just be a dessert decorating contest. If they are interested in learning about cooking too that would be even better because we could do a day about salad dressings, dips, soups, etc.
I will have to start researching fundraising ideas. I know that they've done bake sales but that isn't enough to raise money for the supplies we will need if we go beyond cupcake decorating. It is tough because every club, team, and class is always doing fundraisers. I would need to find something unique. Everyone is over cookie dough, cheesecake, cupcakes, and candles.
Oh well I still have a month to brainstorm and search for ideas. Stay tuned!

Breads always sell well. I wonder if the kids would be interested in learning how to make different kinds?

What exactly is the purpose of this club? Is it in addition to 'home ec' or a replacement for it and how often will they meet? Once a month, once a week, a couple times a month or week? Could they assemble the ingredients at the club and take it home to finish? So many questions, so little time to actually bake anything.

Good luck with your challenge. I’m sure you will ride to it. It all sounds very interesting and exciting. I look forward to what you decide to bake.

I'd like to make appetizers. All sorts of one or two bite baked goods could be introduced.Good luck.
