Humana Has Been So Weird

I received a notification back the end of last year that Molina was no longer going to carry my health plan. So I had two options. Huma or Blue Cross. I knew nothing of Blue Cross, hadn't had anything to do with them since my telephone company days some 40+ years ago. So I went with Humana. I had heard their rates, co-pays, were good and they were easy to deal with. Well, I am sure having the opposite. I have found their OTC to be much more expensive, their pharmacy is very hard to deal with, and now I am getting calls from one their reps wanting to set an in health appointment when I just had one in June. Why me? And, here's the kicker--- I am now getting letters from Molina and H&W that I am approved for Medicaid. But, with the wackiness of the administration and the unsure stand with Medicaid do I really want to go with Medicaid? I just don't know. If anyone out their has any thoughts, knowledge, etc. In this area I'd like to hear back. Thank you. How's your Monday stacking up so far?

What is Molina? Well I have United and that seems to work. I know you wouldn't know which way to go with the different plans. I hope you will have better treatment from whichever you decide.

I know nothing about Medicaid other than you can't have a lot of assets to get on it. My Monday is very quiet. Meals on Wheels will be here in 3 hours; and I'm starving!!!!

Medicaid, at least in Missouri, works through Blue Cross/Blue Shield, the same as my Walmart insurance did. That's what Pretty and I have. I have no clue if they're "easier" to deal with than Humana since I've never used that company. I do know it's cheaper to buy OTC stuff than to wait for the insurance to approve it because they never will. If changing to someone/something else is going to cause you anxiety, then don't change, deal with their vagaries and don't worry so much. You can't do anything about the way insurance does things.

Really? Interesting. I've never heard Medicaid worked through Blue Cross? Blue Shield around here. I am finding that they have two duel-eligible for both Medicare and Medicaid (dual-eligible individuals): the Blue Cross Idaho Medicaid Plus plan and the True Blue Special Needs Plan (HMO D-SNP). But, I still don't know if I want to be on Medicaid or not. With all the cuts to Medicaid going on I don't think it's a very good plan for me.

@celticeagle Okay, I won't tell you how silly that is because it's your choice... If you prefer to pay for your meds and medical appliances out-of-pocket, far be it for me to tell you you're making a mistake.

I know they can be different state to state. Hubby sometimes gets the calls for an in home visit. He just tells them no

Yeah, I just had the in home visit in June. It's rather weird they keep calling about another one.
