When I got my first salary I sent a bit of it to my mother and I bought my favourite Royal Halwa.
My niece whose daughter is now earning, I asked my niece whether her daughter sent any money to her from her first salary She did not May be that is because the parents are doing well and that could be the reason But it is a nice gesture according to me.
What did you do with your first salary?

Mom used the money to buy food for our family and some clothes for me to start school in that year. Every paycheck I got, she used some for bills and some for new clothes for me or my younger brother for school. After we started school in the fall, mom used some of the money tor food and some to help her pay the electric and gas bills for our house.

Did you mean to say you were working while still at school? That is unthinkable really. What a great son you were that you helped your mom to run the house
Kudos to you

@allknowing I started working in the summer when I turned 13 and worked 8 hour days until school started. During school, I worked 2 hours a day after classes were out and one of my brothers charged me $5 a week to drive me home from work. (I walked to work every day after classes were done. That was less than one mile from the school.)
Thanks.

@allknowing It was like one of the first portable computers that was a hand held device. It was a personal digital assistant. You couldn’t get online really, but you set up a digital calendar, write digital notes, and it came with a “pen” you write with on the device.

I honestly can't recall it anymore. Since I was far from home and needed to keep it for myself, I suppose I didn't share it. Back home, my parents were able to support themselves because they were working at the time. However, I do recall giving my mother some talc powder when I went to see her.

It is more of a gesture of love than helping your parents to survive Atleast you thought of your mother on your first trip back

@allknowing - My father was a wise man. I wanted to give him at least half of my salary, but he always refused.

When I got my first salary I gave that entire amount to mother and father. They kept some amount for house expenses and returned me half of the salary.
