Hey there Mylotter friends. Sorry I've been offline for another week. I've been busy with the two cats, work, and my ongoing job search when I'm nearing the one year milestone next month. Here's an update of the cat introduction between Bailey, and my new cat, Sugar, my 5-year-old female gray tabby cat. I'll show you a photo of her later this week. For the first week, Bailey had shown no aggression toward her, when she smelled her blanket from the shelter. And while she was hiding, she had shown the same for her cat bed and toys. But when Bailey peeked through the screen gate, two weeks ago yesterday, it had sorta thrown a mojnkeywrench into the cat introduction. She had spooked Sugar, which had caused her to hide longer in the closet. Even when I open the gate for Bailey to give her some freedom, it had given her fear of Bailey. Up until last weekend, when I couldn't find her for 48 hours, until Bailey found her hiding in the kitchen pantry. And after a few tries, I led her to the bathroom, which is her safe house for the time being. Meanwhile, she has been eating, drinking, going to the litter box, and little by little, giving me love. At night time, Bailey had been sitting on her carrier and peeking through the screen gate, while also pawing and climbing the gate. She doesn't like it much. A week ago, I've given Bailey freedom, while Sugar remained to get stronger in the bathroom. At this point of the introduction, she's not ready for free roaming location swap. Every time she sees Bailey, she hides. After a couple of supervised visits from 10-15 minutes, there's been some hissing and growling from Bailey. But there's been some peaceful visits, even today I've feed them treats in the same room. I hope to feed them and play with them sometime this month to complete the first stage. As for now, they both like the same treats, cat litter, and cat food (mainly wet for now). They both are given salmon and tuna for extra treats, too. I still have to figure out what toys Sugar likes sometime this month. If anyone have any advice on cat introductions, please let me know. I'll let you know how this week goes this weekend with a photo of Sugar. And I'll pop in and out this week when I'm able too.

Slow and steady wins the race I think.

I've had a lot of cats come and go in my life. I've never had the luxary or space for slow introductions. If you feel safe doing so, give them free reign while you're home to supervise.

Good luck with us. Hopefully they'll be good friends very soon. It seems you're doing all the right things but I'm no expert.

cats are funny about getting along with other cats or any animal they have their own terms to get along when they are ready. I just adopted a kitten from the neighbor that found it following her home from down the road from us & just kept it outside all night, so I took it so I can find it a better home cause I know they won't take care of it when they already have 1 they don't.
