Relocating stray dogs? When Indian Supreme Court Judges give knee jerk decisions

I had earlier found Supreme Court's decision to feed dogs in designated spaces laughable. It clearly showed that the judge didn't know nor understood the territorial nature of the dogs. Nor did the judge ever hear of Alpha dogs.
The latest decision to put the dogs in shelter will have worst ramifications ever.
You see, dog feeders will now try to buy dogs to fulfill that need of oxytocin that they are now addicted to thanks to the strays. I am one such addict.
So they will try to adopt or buy. Soon they will discover that it is not their cup of tea, and so they will abandon these dogs.
Supreme Court pooh poohed the idea of neutering and spaying saying it does not help to bring down the numbers.
But it does!!
The pet owners (those who buy pedigree dogs) often keep them without neutering or spaying because they would want the pet to experience parenthood, and to sell the new pups...without actually become breeders. Yeah..this is true out here.
But the dogs often escape and find stray dogs that have not been neutered or spayed, impregnating them, and increasing the population of stray dogs.
Dogs form packs only when they are hungry. And dog feeders have actually prevented deaths of many...without being aware of nor being acknowledged for their contribution.
Removing dogs that they have cared for as babies, is gonna hurt their feelings and science has proved that the void the dogs leave is huge. I have felt something similar when Roxy was stolen and then returned because she didn't adjust there. She loves me!
Shelters in 8 weeks indeed. As if it is so easy to bond with so many dogs being brought in, and as if there are not going to be any alphas among them which will trouble the people working there.
On the whole, Supreme court needs to think its decision. Making neutering and spaying mandatory. Dog feeders would willingly pay for the dogs they feed, provided the procedure is done by skilled vets and doesn't leave the dogs sick afterwards.
If stray dogs become incapable of having pups, then the numbers will start dwindling.
But the courts must also insist that pet owners should have a license to hold the pet, and pay annual fee for it. This would go a long way for feeding and maintaining the strays. And breeder should not get more litter per dog. Pet owners should mention the name of the breeder and his or her phone number to identify how many dogs the breeder owns and how many litter per dog he is bringing into the world. There are many other small and big loopholes that need to be plugged, automatically stray dogs population will dwindle. This will make others want to play and feed them, and dog and human love will return.
Let us not forget, stray dogs are not always bad. They may just be ticks infested or have other ailments. But basically, they can give as much love as the Maltese or Golden retrievers.
I can only expect bad outcome from the present order. Hope rationality prevails.

There are some aggressive stray dogs the government can take and give them shelter. We will feed and care for the less rowdy ones.

I agree. However, some neutered and spayed ones too show rowdy tendencies when they are not treated properly and react just like we humans do. I know my chichi who has been around for 4 years and never bitten anyone, would be put to sleep. My Roxy...will be treated like an angel, and ironically, Poochi who tends to nip and fight with other dogs, which Chichi never does, will be considered a docile dog because that is a rare behavior. I would instead use services of a trainer and train the dogs. 50 percent charges from government and 50 percent from me. He trains all my 10 dogs. Only if he condemns any of them, they go to the shelter.

@vandana7 In shelter they should allow the animal lovers to monitor. I am for feeding street dogs in my area because that has checked robbery. They bark and wake us up whenever they sense any danger.

@vandana7 That's true. They prove to be a huge help when we look after them.

They have to buy that much land. The existing facilities can barely manage to accommodate 4 percent of strays. Then comes the question of feeding, and keeping the dogs free of diseases. In crowded set up, unvaccinated dogs, and few workers...add Alpha dogs attitude there...you know what hell that is going to be. Its not going to be pounds like in the US. It is just going to be stuffing animals in one small space...the judgement needs quick revision.

Neutering most definitely will cut down on the numbers. It's just common sense which the government apparently does not have!!!

Neutering and vaccinating. I am sure most dog feeders and dog lovers will come forward to neuter at least one dog and vaccinate one dog. Our numbers are huge. I am hundred percent certain, we can achieve our targets within an year if somebody organizes it properly.

@vandana7 You are right. In the US those dogs would be collected and put in a shelter for adoption. Some are "no-kill" shelters...some are not. If a dog is in the shelter too long, some shelters will euthanize it, especially if the shelter is overcrowded.

Stray dogs in our countries used to send in animal rescue centers or in pet organizations. The dogs will get spay and they are ready to be fostered or adopted.
