As we left the church yesterday

When we left the church yesterday we were greeted by swallows doing their airborne feeding on flying insects. I hope they were mosquitos. I bet the birds have nests nearby, possibly under church eaves. Because I was not sure if they were swallows or swifts I had to do some looking up of things. Both swallows and swifts are known for airborne feeding and acrobatics. I even looked up purple martins. They are actually the largest swallow. Lots of fun things to see in nature. I have seen groups of swifts before flyng over the Cottonwood River at the edge of town. They are said to almost never perch but just hang on the embankments of the rivers. I have other birds that come to visit here and I am glad of it. They keep me entertained.

I remember seeing purple martins at dusk swooping around to catch the bugs.

I love watching birds but we don't have too many around here yet.
