I have loved the Maine Coon cat breed for as long as I can remember. Their history reached back quite far with them being working cats on ships and farms. They are well adapted to harsh winters and may have originated in the northeastern United States. I am happy to report that the Maine Coon cat has been crowned the top pedigreed cat breed for 2025. The breed is adored for its socialable and gentle nature. They are known as the "gentle giant" in the cat world. The have both a heartwarming demeanor and a striking appearance. Males typically weigh 13-18 pounds and the females weigh 8-12.Body lengths range from 19-32 inches (48-81 cm). Their height at the shoulder is typically between 10-16 inches (25-40 cm). Not a small animal. The picture is from Pixabay.com
