A fine day indeed.

We lallygagged up to Cranny falls this sweet afternoon, stopping often along the way to admire butterflies, sheep, dragonflies and the view below us.
When we got home I prepared chicken satay then settled with my wife in the cool of the back garden to enjoy an aperitif before dinner.
And what an aperitif it was. My wine guy recommended it - rosé port! Never in a million years would I have considered such a concoction but I trusted him and he was right. More summery than ruby port which I understand more as an autumnal quaff, this was quite a delight when lightly chilled. Syrupy, maybe even buttery, and reasonably strong.
And to top it all off, pleasure upon delight, the post lady threw a package over the hedge onto my lap shouting “Package for you Fiacre” - a book I ordered, the second in Jean-Luc Bannalec’s series of detective novels set in Brittany.
Oh what a day - and it’s not over yet.
