Garden centres on today’s agenda …. Plants for the sink !

United Kingdom
August 15, 2025 5:24pm CST
So in our rather funky garden we have lots of , let’s just say, unusual items…..one of these being a sink. So we were wanting some plants to put in the sink, we wanted something with some colour ….hopefully purple ….and something trailing …. We were able to go to three garden centres in total ….we did find something at the second one ….we went back to get the plants only to arrive there 15 minutes after it had closed. It closes at 4,30…..who knew ….we thought it would be open till at least 5pm. Never mind, if we can we will go back in the morning , otherwise it will gave to be next weekend and just hope that they still have the plants.

When my first wife and I were buying plants for our yard, we ran into plant nurseries that closed earlier than we thought they should. By the time we went back a week later, all the plants we were looking for were already gone. I hope you have better luck than we did!

We hadn’t been to this one before and didn’t take notice of the closing times. 4.30 is early to close. I hope the flowers will be available next weekend but if not we will find something else….

@Traceyjayne We had to change what we bought, too. Everything still came out looking good in the end.

I used to have a few plants till I moved house. My new house while have a little place for plants, but when there is a storm, the plants will fly (literally flying across to the other side and will soil everywhere.

I hope you're able to get the plants you want. Maybe you can share a photo once you have the sink planted.
