By sending in the National Guard to help police oversee vulnerable areas in the district, Trump is bringing to light the ineptitude of the "soft on crime" policies so prevalent in many Democratic run cities. Although the Guard is not trained in law enforcement, their "symbolic presence" provides assistance to overwhelmed police, so they can more effectively fight crime. DC police have said they are grateful for the Federal Government's presence in the Capitol something that went unreported in the "NY Times." Muriel Bowser, the mayor of the District of Columbia, has no solutions to stop the flow of crime except to condone leniency to teens for almost any crime they commit. Bowser was at Martha's Vineyard taking a vacation when Trump effectively took over the policing of her jurisdiction. An example of another seemingly Democrat incompetent Mayor like L.A.'s Karen Bass, unable to do her job. Enjoy that "Pinot Grigio" on the Vineyard Muriel, while someone else enacts those tough decisions to make your district safer. Even Trump haters like Joe Scarborough of MSNBC admits there is a rampant crime problem in DC and agrees something should have been done long ago to ensure citizen's safety in the Nation's capital. Perhaps some of those Democrat legislators have whispered to Joe that DC is not so safe as Chuckie Schumer claims it is. By sending in the National Guard and taking Federal control, Trump is bringing common sense back to crime fighting and consequences back for those who commit crimes, including minors. Of course, progressives will argue the latest statistics show that crime is down in DC. ***Well, tell that to the 3-year-old killed by a bullet last month while sitting in the car with her parents enjoying the July 4th fireworks. *** Or tell that to Eric Tarpinian-Jachym's mom, when on the evening of June 30 this young congressional intern was shot while walking in the 1200 block of 7th Street in Washington, D.C. Kids know when there are no consequences if they commit crimes. Thanks to those Democrat run cities with liberal DA's word gets around that minors will receive only a slap on the wrist rather than punishment which fits the criminal offense. The only way to protect society from dangerous actions of juvenile and gang violence is to hold them accountable. Question: Who should be the one's protected, the one's committing crimes or the law-abiding citizens who work, visit or live in urban cities? A legal system looking the other way, providing 2nd chances, advocating defunding the police, ignoring the reasons for street crime, is not an effective solution...
