Where will FourWalls be tomorrow? Physical therapy!! But where was I? All over the desert southwest! This is the fifth song to mention that I was in Oklahoma, so you’d think I had a good time there. And I did!! So, with another “Linda? NO!!!!” warning, here’s today’s song. Oklahoma Hills - Hank Thompson This is the official “folk” song of the state of Oklahoma, so I couldn’t forget it! For the record, Hank Thompson wasn’t from Oklahoma (he was born in Waco, Texas); however, songwriter Woody Guthrie was from Oklahoma! Co-writer (slight lyric changer, actually) Jack Guthrie, Woody’s cousin, was also from Oklahoma. He recorded this in 1946, two years before he died of TB. Thompson was one of the great country and Western swing musicians of the 40s through 70s. It’s a shame that he’s mostly forgotten now (well, I can say that about 98% of the old country singers), but I certainly remember him…and this fabulous tune.
