I got some from Costco yesterday, chiefly because there were no non organic ones available The point is with these is pesticides are not used .better for worker health and the eco system. I can afford to pay a bit more for bananas to do this. They were cheap enough and are beautiful bananas. The only hard part will be getting them all eaten!

I always have to remind my dad not to eat too many at once since they have so much sugar, and he is diabetic. It’s a fine line for him since they help his cramps, but he doesn’t want all that sugar. Of course, Pedialyte helps his cramps too. Bananas are a good one to buy organic since a study showed they are at the top five fruits susceptible to absorbing pesticides. I thought the peel would have protected them better, but I guess not.

@snowy22315 It seems to be a wise investment when one can afford it.

@AmbiePam The bananas were cheap enough. I am not sure how much they are at Food Lion. They usually have them available but I have been buying the regular ones.

I agree. I guess that is partly why Famer's markets are so popular. However, you have only their word for it that it is organic.

I buy organic as much as I can, hoping that they do not cheat about pesticides on those products.

I hope not. They may have ocassional inspects to see that they are labelling the food correctly. I think these bananas had a USDA inspected label on them.

Bananas are a healthy food. Aging athletes are thankful for the potassium.

To be honest I don't usually buy organic....not from the supermarket. We do buy sometimes from farm shops.

Yes, that is where I am more prone to get organic too. However, the bananas seem like they might be a good thing to buy that way.

I will do my best. If friend comes down again soon, it shouldn't be a problem.

Vince eats a lot of bananas, probably more than he should seeing he is diabetic.

I guess it depends in whether his blood sugar is under control or not.

That’s great you were able to get organic bananas at a good price! You’re right, it really does make a difference not just for us but also for the workers and the environment. Sometimes paying a little extra feels worth it when you think of the bigger picture. The only challenge, like you said, is making sure they don’t ripen all at once before you can finish them!

No, I've never purchased anything organic. There are so many pesticides in our fruits and veggies.

That is why organic is superior in most cases. Lord only knows how many pesticides we have ingested over the years.
