Before you throw out the coffee grounds considers some possibilities. Coffee grounds are rich in nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium and calcium. All nutrients that can improve the soil and produce healthy plants. Here are a few of the ways coffee grounds help out the garden:
* They make an excellent fertilizer because they have anti-fungal, and anti-bacterial properties.
* The high levels of nitrogen are toxic and when placed around the perimeter of your garden to repel many kind of garden pests.
* Some mammals will avoid the area due to the sharp scent and bitter taste.
* Mixed in the soil prior to planting or sprinkle around plants after planting or in mulch blend to help retain moisture.
* Add to flower beds for soil conditioning.
* Acid loving plants like hydrangeas and azaleas will like some grounds added to their soil.
* Sprinkle some around plants to deter slugs. (Beer does this too.)

@celticeagle I never have any coffee grounds though! Cousin #2 brews coffee. I could ask her.
