In a couple of hours we'll be going to our lawyer's office to deal with the lawsuit. I'll be sure to report back after we get back about what he has to say. Hopefully there's something we can do, but we won't know. Last thing we want is a default judgment for failure to respond.
George is enjoying his time outside, and I have food in the microwave. I just wished I felt better for this.

Oh, the legal workings are so complex and creepy. I hope it all goes well.
Hope it all goes well and you can get home and get some rest so you feel better.

Did you try contacting AMEX directly? I hope your lawyer is probably bono, because I am sure you realize the money you are paying him could go on your debt.

It's complicated. The card was opened in George's name, which means as far as the law is concerned, that's who they care about. Whe I did talk to them, they tried to tell me I wasn't responsible for the debt, and didn't seem to get that, George can barely talk and it make sense. If I let them talk to him, they wouldn't believe they were talking to a 64-year-old man.
