Plans for the Day

fallen tree, chain saw stuck, pole saw, sunburned

The grandson came up with the plan to cut up a tree that went down in bad weather here 2 weeks ago. He wants to surprise his mom and step dad when they get home to find the tree all cut up and firewood stacked. He has been out there for about two hours now. I have been helping him stack some of the branches on and off, but can't stay out there long in the direct sun. He has gotten the chain saw stuck in a large branch, been aggravated with the pole saw he is using to snip small branches off and starting to get sunburned. I have been telling him he needs to take a break and get something to drink and to rest for a few minutes. He finally came inside for about 8 minutes and is back out there. With his late start (he slept late), I don't think he will finish this project today, but he sure is trying. I'm going back out to help him for a few minutes and will be back later. Just keep an eye on him when you can't be out there with him... Cutting up a tree can be dangerous when you don't know what you're doing. I hope he gets it finished before his parents come home.

We got him in boots and goggles. I didn't like the no shirt, but it was very hot out there. Plenty left for tomorrow. lol

@DaddyEvil And he refused sunscreen after I told him he was getting red. Probably too late then anyway. Hopefully it is not bad.

@kareng As long as he's wearing sunscreen, then the no shirt won't hurt him. If something comes flying at his chest, a shirt won't help.

Cutting up a tree isn't no easy job & there's not a lot of worthy grandkids that will work that hard to help their grandparents these days like that They will be surprised when they come home.

Nope and I think he realized after an hour that it was no easy feat. He's doing it for his mother and step dad. I wish we lived closer to where he could run over and help out in the yard!

@kareng I know what you mean, it's hard to find young hard worker, that's why we are doing all the work we are in the cabin cause we can't find any 1 that will help us. But that's alright we'll get it done.

@kareng If it's been as hot there as it has been here, I don't fault him for it.

I wish we lived closer so he could help us in our yard. He's a good kid. I was shocked he was going to watch the game with me tonight vs. going out with friends.

How old is he? Sounds very energetic and hard working. Dale cut down a tree behind our house earlier today.

He's 18. He gave up after 2 1/2 hours. It was harder than he thought it was going to be and was getting sunburned too. He is going to get back to it all tomorrow.

Yes, he started the job and was a nice thought and intention. I am guessing that since he slept late today and then went to the gym, that he has decided to tag team now with his step-dad.

He quickly found out that this wasn't a one day job. And he took the afternoon off today. I am guessing that he will wait for his step dad to complete the project.

He didn't even get started today. After yesterday, he just slept in and then headed to the gym. I'm betting he has decided to wait until he can finish up with his step-dad. It was nice of him though the get the job started. Not many would give up their Saturday to do that.

So sad of him...Hope he is ok now. What is the age of grandson? His eagerness to surprise his mom and step dad remainded my childhood days.I used to always surprise my parents more than my capacity I took risks.I am fond of that rather than anything else on this entire earth. So cute to hear about this grandson now.
