I could not come here earlier as the PC stopped working I had to ask my techician to come and check He arrived this morning and changed the mother board at a heavy cost I wonder if it is worth having a computer if that is what I will be spending to keep it going now and then There are alternatves and I must think about them

When a mother board goes out on a pc, it's usually cheaper to buy a new computer.

@allknowing All our computers/laptops last around 10 years or more before we need to replace them.

The proper way to maintain mother board is to give compatible RAM and processor in support to it. It go well with them.Icompatibility makes this problem persists.and it sounds like paying to mother board is costlier than a new PC sometimes.

I hope the cost makes it worth it. Usually here, just from my own experience, it is cheaper to buy new. But I hope your technician has given you a fantastic price.

I wouldn't bother with all that..I have a small Chromebook, 11 inches long and never need a big computer to do anything. It does everything I need it to do. It was very cheap as well. It never has an issue ever.

Without a compatible processor and RAM, the motherboard will not function, and the wattage of the PC is greater than other devices. I use my smartphone more but even that has limitations.
