A Celebration without the Celebrant

My son turned 20 last August 30. he was not home because he joined his friends 2 days before his birthday. They were actually having a good time and trying to earn money on the side.
Though we did not want to let him go, we just supported him. In the end, we celebrated his birthday without him. We just had our family's lunch out in his favorite restaurant. My girls were with their boyfriends. We just made a video call with my boy and that would be enough for us.
He was extending his stay up to the 3rd day of September. I miss him so much!

Teenagers and older would rather spend time with friends than family, usually. At least you have a good meal in his honor.

@cherigucchi Yeah, once kids become teenagers, they don't want to do things with parents and siblings. They'd rather go out with friends instead.
