Firstly, it was a very strange morning.
I lay in bed not having to take notice of the time as for the first time in my life since I was 5 years old I did not have to get up for the first day of the new school term / year !
I am still off work due to my broken arm.
What a weird feeling, knowing all my colleagues were up and about and arriving at work with stories of their Summers ….knowing I wasn’t to be part of that.
Secondly, The Mister didn’t have to be at work til later than usual.
He works away Monday to Friday and sometimes is up around 4am to travel to wherever …
Today he didn’t have to leave til 11am.
So, we both had a lie in, which for a Monday was strange for both of us.
After his coffee he had time to put the washing away and wash and dry my hair ….
Strange for me to be able to wave him off as he left for work.
No point texting or ringing anyone as they would be at work ….
Thank goodness I had receipt apps to attend to ….and Netflix …

What do you/will you miss most about not starting school on time?

Today I missed catching up with colleagues about their Summers ….
Tomorrow the children are in…..I will miss them coming through the school gates in their new uniforms, some eager to tell you of all the things that they had done over the Summer.i will miss the hugs I get as they are glad to see you again. I will miss seeing the new children start on their very first day . There are always tears ….some from the children and mostly from the Moms. I love looking at a child as they go higher up the school and remember what they were like on their first day …..and how much they have grown…..in size, age, ability, strength, personality etc.
I will miss settling them in and feeling proud on seeing their achievements ….

@Traceyjayne Those all sound like nice memories you're missing out on this year... I'm sorry that things are happening that you won't get to see/experience.

That would seem strange. At least you have things you can do.
