We're Deliberating a Different Vehicle

Yeah, I know, we trade cars a lot. But we get used cars and we pay cash. I have had my 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trail Hawk for 5 years now. Hubby just bought his 2024 Toyota 4Runner 1 year ago. I don't drive much. Just one day a week. Now mind you I don't want to give up my freedom or my driving, but sometimes it seems silly to have an asset (Jeep) sitting in a garage paying insurance on it for no reason. So we're thinking about going down to just 1 car to share. We're both retired and our schedules have never conflicted that would leave one of us without a vehicle to drive. Here's a photo of what I think we want. Yeah, it's big. Yeah, it's really Orange. It's a hybrid, though. 2023 Toyota Sequoia. We're watching review videos on it now and reviewing the CarFax on the vehicle's history, etc. The car lot has had it on their lot for 3 months so maybe they're willing to negotiate.

Toyota is usually a good car. I'm thinking about getting rid of my second car. I haven't driven in several years. Cousin #2 is titled to get it when I die. I could sell it to her for $1. Good luck with your purchase.

You have two cars and you don't drive? Aren't you worried about the tires dry-rotting or the fluids drying up?

@LooeyVille I sold one a few months ago. The one that's left is driven every couple weeks by one of the cousins. I probably won't keep it.

@LindaOHio That car money would get you more money to hire professional help rather than the airhead cousins.

Best of luck in your decision....just remember that you did go down to one car a few years ago, so remember what happened then while considering everything.

Friend used to have a Honda Hybrid, but he doesn't have one now. The batteries are very expensive to replace. He finds the gas mileage to be identical with the vehicle he has now. It's a Honda pretty sure but not sure of the model. I keep forgetting. He gets mad because I have told people its a Toyota Prius which it is not. It's not my car so I don't pay that much attention.

We just had the motor rebuilt in our old car. We paid $1700 cash for that so we don't need to buy a new-to-us vehicle right now. (Pretty doesn't have a driver's license.) We've had our 2002 Buick LeSabre since 2010 so the insurance is cheap on it. I hope you enjoy your new car.

So long as it's not breaking the bank, the decision is yours of course. One car would never work for us, but if you can make it work, it makes perfect sense to eliminate the extra expense.
