Stewed apple and custard……

United Kingdom

Well, I haven’t had this pudding for ages. We have had so many apples on the tree this year it has been amazing. We have already given some away. Mom made stewed apple and then she made some delicious custard. A real showstopper of a pudding , perfect for the colder Autumnal days. I had also forgotten just how good a dish of custard was. What is your favourite pudding ?

I'm not much for puddings... I do like banana pudding once in a while. I line the bottom of a baking dish with vanilla wafers (plain vanilla cookies), cut slices of banana and put on top of the vanilla wafers and then mix up a box of banana pudding and pour over the cookies/bananas and let it set up in the fridge. It's really good as long as Pretty doesn't want it too often. Edit to add: Is it getting cold there already? It's still summer here.

That pudding sounds nice . I do like bananas. Yes, it is starting to get cold. We have put the fire on once already and I have had to put the electric blanket on a couple of times. It’s getting darker earlier now and I’m guessing I will have to start putting a coat on in the next couple of weeks. It’s been very hot and sunny up until now ….which has been great for the tomatoes, but we had rain, thunder and lightning today , so the weather is definitely changing.

:@Traceyjayne Weird! The sun doesn't set here until 7:43 pm today and we still have the air on. It will need to be around 10C/50F all day before we turn heat on in the house. (Our house normally holds the summer heat until the weather really starts getting cold. At 10C outside is when I think about switching from jean shorts, tank top and sandals into long jeans, a tee shirt and real shoes. But Pretty is getting cold by then and wearing sweats around inside the house and a coat outside.) We have thunderstorms off and on all year round. It's when it starts frosting at night that I start getting chilly.

@DaddyEvil here in the UK we are famous for having every season in one day. I have gone to work in the morning when it has been snowing and come home having to carry my coat as it’s been so hot !

“Stewed apple and custard” Makes me think of the song “Food Glorious Food” from the musical, Oliver! Except it’s “Cold jelly and custard” I prefer apple crumble. More naughty but nicer. My favourite pudding is sticky toffee. Now that’s VERY naughty, so I only have it on special occasions.

We will be doing crumbles too. I have recently been picking blackberries and they will be joining the apples in the crumbles. I love sticky toffee pudding and had one last week.

I think the banana pudding must be an American thing. We don’t have it here . I love pistachios too .

@traceyjayne Lovely also when used to massage the shoulders once the stomach is full of it. Splendid concoction.

@Traceyjayne Stewed apples are just so good. I like to stew them in autumn on a Saturday with cloves and cinnamon and the smell invades the whole house and makes us feel good.

Nice, you had such a big harvest of apples this year. Stewed apple and custard seems lovely. My favourite pudding would have to be chocolate pudding, I can never resist it.
