How do you manage your monthly budget?

When managing the monthly expenses of a household, we need to give priority to a few things and put a few items in the lower priority list. I have seen people who even drop a few items from their list, if the budget is getting too tight, so that it becomes manageable. To be honest I have done all of the things mentioned above as the situation would arise. How is your take on your monthly budget? How do you manage things and still keep your family happy?

I don't have a budget. I pay all the bills; and whatever is left, goes into savings.

That's good. But still, there should be a percentage of income that should go towards our savings. Just my thoughts.

@abhi_bangal I am retired and on a fixed income. There are months that I could not put a certain percentage into the bank. For example, when property taxes are due.

I've had basically the same amount of monthly income for years now. I am able to manage it well. I only buy what I need only.

That's really nice if you buy only what you need. But there's one catch - if you have the same quantity of amount, then there's a bit of management? I mean there's inflation to consider, isn't it?

That's what matters. When it's routine, there's nothing much to worry about.

I try to stick to a budget though I always leave some space or extra for emergencies or unforseen spendings.

i love budgeting, i think i am very good at it provided there's a big amount to budget lol i always make sure a percentage goes to my social security, and savings. actually i dont have a big savings, just enough emergency fund and most of it goes to my social security. the rest goes to my expenditures.

Cutting down on certain expenditures, skipping out some interests like travel, are some of the things we do as money gets saved over SIP, RD. But it's always a win-win if there are other way outs to add to the savings.
