Well…..it’s started ….we are turning 60 !

Here in the UK the new school year starts at the beginning of September……and runs through to mid/end July.
So far I have had two Birthdays of friends from my year group ….
60
Yes,
They are now 60 years old !
Of course it is going to happen to us all between now and August, but, my goodness. It all suddenly seems very real !
When we were at school thinking about when we would be 60 seemed a crazy thing as it was so far away.
Now we are here !
How did it happen….where did those years go ….
The Mister and I went the secondary school together ….so we are the same age ….well, okay, I am older by a few months , which he doesn’t let me forget !
We certainly don’t feel old…..well, who said 60 was old anyways !
One of my friends has just put a message on Facebook thanking everyone for wishing her a Happy 60th Birthday.
I think that’s when it hit me ….
The years have flown by….
I am not ready for curlers, hairnets, O.A.P tea dances and pensioner specials when eating out.
I am determined that 60 is the new 40……
And life begins at 40.
What are your thoughts, on getting older / feeling older / acting older…..

I’m 44, but I’m pretty sure I have the bones of an 80 year old. I’m not sure if I’m kidding either. I’d only go back to being younger if I could keep the lessons I’ve learned over the years. I don’t want to be younger if I have to learn hard lessons all over again.
I think you’re already making 60 look much younger.

Yes, it would be good to be younger but with the knowledge I have now …..or would it !

@traceyjayne Becoming 60 was great for me and now I love being 67. Quite it strikes me when we are out that everyone is younger than me - doesn’t bother me though.

I feel young but I think it stems back to when I was a child , 60 seemed very old ….and now I’m there ….almost.
When I saw the number in my friends posts……60 ….oh dear…it looks like an old number …
I didn’t mind my 50’s and I don’t think I will mind my 70’s ….i think I have a mental block when it comes to 60.
Hopefully I will get over that.

I'll be 62 in October. Most days I don't feel any older than I did at 30 but some days I FEEL old!
I forgot that some places give a discount for "older adults". We don't eat out often enough to worry about that kind of thing.

I'm still 22 and just getting married (in my mind); but my body feels like 90. I am quite a bit older than you. I wish I was still 60 and that my hubby was still with me.
