Everybody uses Google Maps or Apple Maps apps on their phones and in their GPS systems in their cars.
What happened to the good old fashioned map?
What happens when the battery dies or the signal drops? How do they find their way around?
I can read a map and I remember having to refold a map once you open it. Impossible!
Why aren't young people taught survival skills like map reading anymore?

When we used to travel I was a map maniac. Highlighters, laminating material, list of attractions....I loved it.

They themselves want to depend on technology where they can find something already cooked. No need of reading a map.

True! Tech makes life easy, but when batteries die or signals drop, old-school map skills matter. Problem is, many young people rely too much on gadgets now!

I can read and fold a map very easily.
I can tell what direction we are in provided the sun is up and I am aware of the time of day.
The downside to using a map only is that it doesn't provide you with construction or any detours on your route, this can save time.

I can tell you what happens when the signal drops and you're using a map app on your phone... The app freezes the screen so you can still see what the app was showing at the time the signal dropped. You just have to hope you weren't almost at your destination so the app starts working again before it's time to stop because the app won't be able to direct you to the house/business if you're close to your destination.
I was using my phone as a GPS going to a friend's house. I didn't realize I'd lost signal until I saw my friends waving and yelling for me to stop after I'd passed their house.

I do see a lot of our technology as a problem in this sense. When we rely so heavily on it, when it is not there, we are more endangered than anyone might have thought humanly possible. Imagine the advantage this gives our enemies to completely take us over when you think about it. All they have to do is unplug the grid and we're sitting ducks.
