I just saw a fire truck drive down my street. They weren't in a hurry and there were no fires. Maybe they were looking for hydrants, but shouldn't"t they know where they are already!

My imagination says it’s stolen. Common sense just says that’s a good question. And who can escape stealing a fire truck? You’d be kind of obvious.

Your imagination could be correct. Locally some thieves stole a truck, out of a field, that was full of grain. Of course they were caught as soon as they pulled up to the elevator to sell it Farmers have accounts with the grain elevator. They don't just randomly pull up with loads People will steal anything

Well, I do know ambulances get stolen. They were just ambling slowly through the development here Think they were looking for fire hazards?

Maybe they had to go out to get supplies. We see our fire trucks at grocery stores and places like that on occasion.

You normally don't see them in residental neighberhoods unless they have to be there. But, they can and do get silent or non-ergent calls that might require a in-person visit.

It didn't seem to be a purposeful visit. They literally went down the street and turned around. They might have bored and were just looking around which they probably wrote up as looking for hazardous materials or something.

@snowy22315 Fire trucks respond to all sorts of medical emergencies here. They would know where they were going generally, but if some one was missing? I was thinking along that line.

You would think the fire department would know where all of them are. It's their job to maintain them.

That would be better if they have a map where the hydrants are.
