Sneaking in Good Food

Ever since my grandson was a young boy, I have been sneaking foods into what we eat to be sure we are getting a good balanced diet. As much as possible that is. He used to hate onions because he'd see these little chopped bits of them on his hamburger when we went to McDonald's. He hated them. Picked them all out. He didn't like peas, carrots, lettuce, onions, broccoli or Brussel sprouts. But I found that if I put just the right amount of onion in casseroles and soups, he would eat it. It was overpowering he would not. I also put carrots in meatloaf and casseroles, just the right amount. They give things a sweeter flavor and he liked that. Again, I didn't overpower dishes with any of these. He still won't eat most green vegs but he will eat broccoli. I don't care for lettuce either so that wasn't a problem.
We mothers and grandparents have to be sneaky.

I'm lucky. I love most veggies and fruits. I can't stand raw onions or too many cooked onions in a dish, I hate beets and don't really care for asparagus. I'll eat just about anything else.

I don't care for many vegs but love most fruit. Too much of anything isn't good. I like pickled beets. Love asparagus.

I do the carrots, not the potatoes. I like mashed potatoes on the side.
