I saw the video of Charlie Kirk getting shot

I do not recommend viewing it. I didn't watch it yesterday. I didn't seek it out. That's just not the kind of thing that I need to have in my brain. I have a couple of regulars who visit me when I'm on bathroom duty. They did it last year and they are doing it again this year. One is the oldest son of a good friend/coworker and the other is a former student that I have a good relationship with. They won't hesitate to tell me to STFU (in the actual words) but I know they don't mean it in a disrespectful way. Anyway one of them was telling me he saved all of the videos. I said he was a sicko. (he likes to debate politics with me) The other shoved his phone in my face and showed me a video of when Kirk was actually shot. OMG. Hollywood horror movies couldn't match what I saw. That shot was obviously not something a person could recover from even with the best and fastest medical intervention. The amount of blood. . . it is indescribable. Like I said I didn't seek it out and had no plans to view it but teenaged boys who think we are "friends" don't necessarily listen to me when I say no. Let's just say I saw it so you didn't have to. Kirk had no chance which is why it isn't surprising that Trump announced that he was dead just 2 hours later. The whole thing is horrific. As I posted yesterday and others here have echoed--violence based on political beliefs is unacceptable. (not that any violence is) I didn't agree with Charlie Kirk on anything but I completely condemn this assassination. From what I've learned about him over the past 24 hours he was passionate about debating people. I like debating people as long as they can be civil. I can respect his mission while disagreeing with his message.

I was pulling up a favorite YouTuber and YT tried to show me that video. I blocked it immediately. I don't like blood and see no reason to watch something like that. (I suspect I got that video recommended to me because I was talking with pony about it.) Boys can be interesting...

I've been doing this high school thing for way too long so I've learned to pick my battles. I make interesting "side" relationships with students outside of the classroom and I don't mean that in any kind of inappropriate way. There are some that just create a rapport where we can be a little more honest, a little more chill. .Sometimes those are the times when I teach them more than I ever did about science.

@NJChicaa I understand. I had several favorite teachers as I was growing up. I'd visit them at work when I had odd days off and they'd step out into the hallway and visit until kids needed them again. One of them still sends a Christmas card every year.

I’m not even getting on regular social media to avoid seeing it even accidentally.

You know this bothers me terribly. I have been fascinated by watching these supposedly true Untold Stories of the ER. Now I have seem some things that have made me wonder how the person survived. Getting back to Kirk I understand he was shot in the neck, OK so tell me how it can be a true story if in one of the videos I watched a man got a tree branch operated out of his neck and Charlie Kirk cannot be saved, Something wrong somewhere,

If you saw the video (don't watch it) you'd see it was clear that he had no chance

That's not something anyone needs to actually watch. The 'funny' thing is I had never even heard of this guy until now.

Charlie seemed passionate about debate, which is great, and it’s sad to see him gone.

I'm not familiar with that person. Who/what was he in the Rumpy scheme of things?
