Late last night I pressed the “book now” button and sealed my fate - I’m definitely going to Scotland to stay 5 nights in my brother’s cabin on the west coast. The boat is expensive (but with free coffee!!!) and I could have flown to Athens for less but I do like doing something new.
It’s quite a long, slow drive to get there - Scotland is an odd shape with long sea inlets getting in the way, so although its theoretically possible to do the trip in one day we’re stopping off half way for a night. Adding to the expense of course and Scotland’s not cheap.
And we don’t get to see my brother because he and his partner are at their house in Normandy not far from the care home where our other brother resides.
But the place is remote and peaceful with just birds and deer for company and long walks by the shore to enjoy. And I’m looking forward to being on the boat - I see it arriving and departing our harbour every day and now I get to sail in it.
Do you prefer slow boats or fast planes?

@allknowing The coffee is unlikely to be good coffee. One advantage is that the boat leaves from Larne where we live, just a 10 minute drive from our house so we don’t have to sit in an airport for a few hours just waiting.

I don't know... I've never been on a slow boat or on a fast plane so have no clue which I'd prefer. You don't need either type of transport to go places in the US. I haven't seen everything the US offers so don't need to go anywhere else to see new things yet.
I hope you enjoy yourself.

@xFiacre When I was younger, Pretty and I drove all over the Western part of the US exploring. I've only driven East to take her to college in Pennsylvania and then back to bring her home when she graduated from college. I'd still like to drive down to Florida and look around and, maybe up along the Eastern seaboard.

@daddyevil You do indeed have a large and diverse back yard to explore.

So you're joining me in cruising now, are you? Much rather have the freedom of movement in a boat than crammed in like a sardine in a plane.
