Deputy rescues an injured bald eagle on a highway

A deputy in Vernon Parish rescued an injured bald eagle who was seen on Louisiana 28 West and Highway 465 on Thursday September 11.
The VPSO deputy answered an emergency call from a driver who saw the injured eagle.
VPSO deputy Lynn Bennett who contacted officials with the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries who took the injured eagle to rehabilitation center in Baton Rouge.
Sad to say, officials with the Acadiana Wildlife Education and Rehabilitation made the decision to put the eagle to sleep since the eagle was not going to recover.

I envy Vernon. Getting to hold that eagle like that in the picture. How sad that they had to put it down.
I love those birds so. Them and falcons and owls.
