Monday morning blues

United Kingdom

People talk about having the Monday morning blues. It’s the day that most people have to get up early to go to work, after having a lovely weekend with family and friends. For retired people obviously, it’s different as they usually have no need to get up early etc ….unless they decide themselves to do activities. For me, at the moment , Monday mornings mean getting up early, so I can wash and The Mister helps me get dressed before he leaves for the week for work. I usually have another sleep as this happens around 5 am. So, are you retired and not bothered by a Monday morning ? Do you suffer with Monday morning blues ?

I am in fact retired and the days of the week mean nothing to me. It's like 6 Saturdays and a Sunday.

Most days are the same for us as we're retired now.

Unless something MAKES me pay attention to what day of the week it is, I usually have no clue and wake up and go to sleep whenever I feel like it. I didn't have a problem with Monday morning blues even when I did work. *shrug* I'm an early riser or I stay up all night, anyway. Pretty, on the other hand, definitely has problems with waking up/getting up to do things earlier in the day.

@traceyjayne I’m retired and the days kind of blend into each other. Sunday is the only fixed point. Used to be that retirees queued round the block at the post office to lift their pension but now it sneaks into your account in the middle of the night so you don’t even have that to get up for.

I am self employed and work at home so I don't have to be at work at a particular time (although I do also do some occasional events work and these can sometimes be very early starts). But I have to be up at 7 am anyway for the school prep. As a teenager I hated getting up for school; I never thought about my parents having to do so as well! And even worse, my Dad was a teacher throughout his working life so it never ended!

@Fleura I have often thought about working from home for myself….something always comes sling and changes those plans for me though. Can I be cheeky and ask what you do ?
