You'd never know it after all of the cheering from the GOP and the MAGA cult. If you haven't seen the actual clip and you just watched/read the reactions from them you'd get the impression that he did. I mean--he *is* a late night comedian and we do have this thing called "freedom of speech" in America. Well we used to anyway before Trump returned to office. Now the wannabe autocrat/dictator is trying to silence members of the press, comedians, and basically anyone he thinks is being "unfair" to him or is mocking him. I don't understand how a 79 year old man can constantly be whining about things being "unfair" to him.
What Kimmel said was that it had been a rough time in MAGA world with the death of Kirk and that they were doing everything they could to try to convince the country that the assassin had nothing to do with them. He said they were doing it for political points. Then he mentioned that Trump was taking it hard and played a clip from him speaking to the press on the White House lawn. A reporter offered condolences on the death of his friend and asked how he was holding up. Trump said "I think very well" and then immediately pointed out the trucks and started talking about the start of the construction of the ball room.
Kimmel DID NOT make fun of Kirk's murder. He made fun of MAGA and Trump. That bruised Trump's fragile ego and soon the FCC guy was threatening to punish ABC. The MAGA cult is happy about and defending Kimmel's suspension because Trump is happy about it. It truly is incredible (and not in a good way) how willing they are to support the violation of norms and freedoms here in America simply because their dear leader wants it. They need to look up that quote about WW2. Wait--here--I did it for them:
First they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out—because I was not a socialist.
Then they came for the trade unionists, and I did not speak out—because I was not a trade unionist.
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.

You know what would be hilarious? The worst thing you can do to a megalomaniac is ignore him. So, the late night hosts (we’re down to one right now, aren’t we?
) and podcasters should just not mention him AT ALL. And you know what he’ll do? He’ll start itching-with-a-B that they aren’t talking about him.
