Late Summer Hike

This morning my husband and I ventured off to a central area of the city. There is a good sized (200 hectares) conservation area that I have been wanting to visit for a few years. There are 6 ponds on the protected property called Westminster Ponds Mills conservation area. We figured that we walked about 4 km on the trails. We did see many amazing sights, that you do not take the time to notice on a regular day, especially when you live in a large city. I found that the most pleasant part of it all, besides the fresh air, was the sounds. We did not hear any traffic, no car alarms going off, no aggressive horns honking. Instead, we heard the frogs crocking and the acorns falling from the trees-I am really still surprised that neither of us had any hit us on the head. We were both taken back by seeing the huge cracks in the dry earth, as a result of no rain for a month. ~Photo collage is mine

I love only to hear the sounds of nature. I cannot believe we are so lucky here, no traffic noises, only the birds chirping. Your photos are beautiful.

Thank you, I need to learn how to do a collage that is better balanced, with 2 upper photos and 2 lower ones. We hear the birds chirping here, but we hear far more traffic sounds, even the buzzing sound that the EV's make adds to the noise pollution.

@Juliaacv - I had a good and easy software to do photo collage when I used Windows. I can find nothing good now that I use Linux. There is almost zero traffic here, this is a private road and we are on the back, we face the woods.

It was so refreshingly fun. I especially loved the hush and quiet that only nature can provide. We need a long stead soft rain in order for the ground to soak it up, especially in places like this where there is alot of tree cover.

It was cool, you could really see how much a lack of rain affects pond areas. We could see the deer paw prints in the mud where they made their way to get a sip of water last night. And the quietness of it all was great.

Oh it really was. And the history of that particular area was amazing to read. I can fully understand and appreciate that it is a protected area.

It was really amazing, and you would never even know this area existed as it looks like just a forested park when you drive by.
