Sailing tomorrow.

The wind’s kicking up tonight, blowing chairs around people’s back yards and swishing the trees about in my own garden. I love a stormy night but early tomorrow morning we’ll be on a small ferry to Scotland and my tonsillitis-stricken wife has enough to contend with without adding sea sickness into the mix. I do like a rough crossing myself, but modern ferries are a lot more stable now than the boats I used to travel on in the 70s. One of the advantages of even the mildest of storms is that neither my wife nor my daughter will eat for fear of being sick, so I’m saving money. Do you prefer a smooth sea ride or one that has texture and colour?

I've walked/swam in the Pacific Ocean but never been on a boat like that. I've been in speedboats on Table Rock Lake in Missouri but that's it and never if the water was rough. I hope, for your wife's and daughter's sake it's a smooth crossing.

Never heard of anyone wanting a rough boat ride. It takes all sorts to make the world I suppose. So you are saving money on food thanks to your wife and daughr Hopefully they will not read your post

I’ll take a smooth sailing, please. Even if that makes me a ninny.

Smooth for me thank you. I hope the crossing is pleasant. I gather you're putting the car on the ferry? We were trying to get to a ferry once somewhere in Ireland and running late. We came to a T junction and there were signs pointing both left and right and each said 'To The Ferry' which sort of made perfect sense but not at the time.

@JudyEv And then you’re headed somewhere the sign tells you it’s 20km ahead and then next sign says 25kms and you wonder should you turn back, the the signs that tell you tu turn right after you’ve passed the turning.

I don't get seasick unless I"m below in a closed in cabin. If I'm out in the fresh air, I'm fine. I would prefer a smooth ride. I'm sorry your wife is not well. I hope she feels better soon.
