Off duty firefighter rescues a driver who was inside of an auto that was on fire

St. Bernard Parish Firefighter Andrew Nixon was off duty on Saturday September 20 when he was with his fiancé traveling from a wedding when he took action to rescue a woman driver who was involved in a collision with an 18 wheeler on Interstate 10 near the border crossing near the state line of Mississippi.
Since the St. Tammany Fire Rescue firefighters had put out the fire. Andrew realized that he was needed to rescue the woman driver who was trapped inside the auto when Andrew grabbed the woman driver out of the auto via the top of the door and away from being burned by the flames.
The woman driver was taken by an ambulance to a hospital in New Orleans where she is expected to make a full recovery.
Andrew suffered cuts after he broke the windshield to rescue the woman involved in the auto accident.
