Getting Ready to Freeze Our Dogs

We like hot dogs around here. I know, I know. They are not exactly healthy. But for an easy dinner night cooking up Pigs in a Blanket, or just on buns, incorporated into a batch of scrambled eggs, or wrapped diagonally on a piece of bread for a quick lunch snack... They're just good eats. I like to buy the Bar-S 3-pound family pack, which has 24 hot dogs, and we keep 8 up, and freeze the other 16 in two packs of 8. It's not that expensive. It works out to be about $1.67 per pound at $5 per pack, which is the current price at Ruler. They went up a little bit. They used to be $4.89, so the next time I am at Walmart I will do a price check. But I bought some on Tuesday and tonight we are packaging them up to be frozen. When I have them for a lunch snack, I like to just put them into the microwave for about 30 or 40 seconds, or just until they split. How do you like your hot dogs?

George used to eat them with mustard. But now, I cut them up and serve them plain.

I like mustard from time to time, but for whatever reason, I like my hot dogs with ketchup. But plain is good too. My wifre eats them plain and cold. I have to at least heat them up a little.

@porwest I have to heat mine up, too. George doesn't like cold, anything.

@kaylachan I can eat cold leftovers of certain foods like pizza, brats, Italian sausages, even meatloaf. But most things I do heat up.

Ketchup and onions is my fave, but I will eat them any way. Plain, with mustard, mustard and onions or relish..etc. I have some Bar S in the fridge.

@snowy22315 I love sauerkraut. I can put it on hot dogs, on brats, on Italians, I love pork and kraut...it's just good eats. It might be the German in me. Either way.

@porwest I carefully look through all Walmart has to offer and then decide which are the right prices for me,

I only eat beef or veal franks. We usually buy Black Bear (I think is the name) beef franks. They are expensive so only get them when they are on sale. I’ve never seen veal franks at the supermarket but our Russian store has them so we get them sometimes. Gotta watch out for the casing on franks though. Sometimes it’s hog casing so can’t eat those.

Yeah, you've got that pork thing going on. That's not an issue for me.

Charred on the grill is my favorite. With ketchup on a toasted bun. It's something else I can no longer have. I bought 6 corn dogs which I will eat; and then I shouldn't have any more.

I actually do like to almost burn my dogs on the grill. They're so good either way.

I thought I did hear a knock at the door, but I thought they were probably just Jehovah's Witnesses and ignored answering it. Could it have been the SPCA? Might be time to go out and get some dogs...the edible kind of course. lol

Boiled is good too. Really, I like hot dogs cooked any way they can be cooked. On the grill, in the microwave, fried, or boiled. They are just good eats IMO.

All of that sounds good too, although a bit off my beaten path. But I'd go for any or all of it.
