What's an Old Lady to do?

I woke up from an evening nap, and my grandson came in to talk to me. He told me he had gone downstairs and found his mom asleep and something cooking on the stove. The pot of water had gone dry, and the eggs were done. It is concerning when this happens and it's not the first time. I have woken up in the middle of the night smelling smoke a couple of times lately. I don't know what to do. This type of thing has happened about 3 or 4 times in the last 3 or 4 months. But now there is new meds in the mix so.........?!
My daughter is the chief cook and cleaner around here. I can no longer do much. My grandson helps where he can, but he has issues as well. I do the scheduling and monthly financials. Those things I can still do. What do we do? -- Me go to an old folk's home, Cami go who knows where and Josh would be homeless. *sigh*
My grandson checks on the house before he goes to bed but sometimes, she is up all night and could do this same thing at any time. She is on new meds that she takes at night. (She takes some in the morning and these at night.) I hope that we can set down with her and make it a rule that she doesn't do any cooking after she takes her meds.
My daughter has done some weird things in the past. When she was a teenager and not on the right meds, she would take all her belongings off shelves and out of the closet and place them in the middle of the room. She also started a fire one time. I stayed home from work the next day just on the off chance that she would come home and do the same thing again. That has been years ago now and there have been other things that happened through the years. she has a monthly meds check so she is on a good medication. But she has to communicate to the doctor when things aren't right.
My anxiety goes up when things like this happens. My grandson worries but doesn't know what he can do other than what he does. He checks at night to be sure the cats are in and his mom and I don't need anything, that all is right in our world before he goes to bed. He's a good fellow and I am proud of him. So glad we have him here with us.
I am just rambling. I have little hope of things changing. Medication is key and we must keep in communication with the meds doc. Josh sees the same one so that helps. Sorry to go on......and on.......and on. Just thinking out loud and unleashing.
Thank for reading.

That is always difficult, but at least your grandson is keeping an eye out for anything going amiss.

It's always a good idea to make sure one is properly medicated...

That can be very dangerous. Hope she starts doing better.

You definitely have need for concern. I think talking to her and not allowing her to cook after she has her meds is a good idea; but I wonder if it's enough?
