Sandwich Massachusetts resident Richard Crooks was walking with some friends on Friday September 26 on the South Moat Trail in New Hampshire when Richard who is a senior citizen began to have cramps on his arms and legs as they were walking down the South Moat Trail. Richard's partner called 911 to ask them for help. Rescuers came to take Richard in a litter and carry Richard down the trail safely. After Riichard arrived safely on Friday evening, Richard was taken by an ambulance to a hospital located in North Conway to be treated for his illnesses. Richard is expected to recover from his illness. Thank goodness Richard was hiking with a partner that evening. Link is msn.com/en-us/weather...

Thank goodness he was hiking with others who could call for help. This is such an important reminder, especially for senior hikers, to never hike alone and to know your limits on the trail. It's great to hear a story with a safe outcome thanks to quick emergency response.

@Deepizzaguy Absolutely. Being prepared and knowing your limits is what keeps outdoor adventures enjoyable and safe. It's the experienced hikers who respect the trails the most.

The guy probably had some underlying health problem, and when someone is a senior citizen, it is wise to have a health checkup, before embarking on such a strenuous walking trail.
