A bit late to the party!

On a recent car journey I stopped at the motorway services and there they had a Krispy Kreme doughnut stall, which had a big poster advertising Harry Potter-themed Hogwarts doughnuts.
Talk about jumping on a bandwagon – although they do seem to be a bit late to the party, given that the Harry Potter frenzy began decades ago, with the first book published in 1997 and the first film in 2001.
Still I guess if you see a good marketing ploy you may as well use it if it still has potential – better late than never!

@Fleura Haha, that name does have alot to be desired.
The US chain, Starbucks, isn't doing well here at all.
They are closing 1% of their stores.
I think that alot of it has to do with their costs as compared to the Canadian Tim Horton coffee chain giant.
Our chain is a fraction of the cost of the Starbucks items.
But maybe people are realizing that making your own hot drink at home, tea or coffee or latte, is much more satisfying and economical.

@Juliaacv Apparently they are not doing so well here any more either. A radio programme the other day theorized that they were 'old-fashioned' and that the younger generation are now searching for alternatives such as matcha - which is having an unprecedented boom!

The Harry Potter movies never seem to be off the tv. I just watched The Prisoner of Azkaban at the weekend, for the umpteenth time. I never read the books, but I love the films. Great escapism!
I don’t eat doughnuts, so you can’t tempt me with your delights, this time.

@Fleura It’s been a while since I was at a funfair, but yes, I do like the freshly made ones dipped in sugar.

I don’t think our Krispy Kreme’s are doing that, but I see Harry Potter themed specialties pop up when a new Harry Potter ride at an amusement park opens, or a new special edition suckers people into spending their money again.
Krispy Kreme IS good, but I haven’t been there in ten years or more. I’m not a doughnut person.

Yum. I think Harry Potter had an anniversary so maybe that's why. I know Twilight is having a 20th year anniversary.
