What a waste of my time. We had 3 sessions. The first 2 we could pick what we wanted to do. Well the one I had planned to go to first (Canva) was beyond packed and had nowhere to sit so I went to one about resources to use to help ML (multi-lingual) students since that is a big thing in our district these days. She showed us some tools to provide translation, AI, and other tips for supporting them. And it was mostly focused on. . . using Canva which I don't know how to use. So I didn't get much out of it. I will have to just spend some time trying to figure it out because it looks like it can be very helpful once I actually know how to use it. The second session I went to was run by the media specialist (aka librarian) showing us different online databases we have access to and how much information they contain. That was helpful but "it could have been an email". The third session was the craziest. The building science department had to get together to use standardized test data to develop documents that provided tier 1 and tier 2 interventions (accomodations/modifications) to help students for the state standardized science test. We were literally told to use AI to have it generate them. So 1 person generated 1 document, shared it with the other disciplines, and we literally just changed the word "chemistry" to "physics", "biology", "forensic science", etc. They allotted 45 minutes for something that took us about 10 when you factor in the freaking out about formatting, sharing, and random conversations. So I left a bit earlier than the 11am scheduled lunch time because we were done. I'm back here now. I was told by the assistant principal the other day that I can do the 12-2pm hours from the apartment so I'm not going back to the building. Yes I will work during that time but I'll be doing it from here. I don't have a classroom so the other 2 teachers in the rooms I use will be on the desktop computers. I really don't like working on my district-issued Chromebook. It is easier to do it here on my laptop. I know the old adage is "it is better to ask for forgiveness than permission" but I did ask for permission and was given it. So here I am.

Glad you got that "accommodation" to do the last two hours from home. It can make a world of difference.
