Sometimes the Moment is Worth More than the Quality

Sometimes it's hard to believe that my sister and I got together on one of her visits back in the day 23 years ago to do this. It's called "Incomplete Standing Still" because we didn't finish it.
But the moment was still captured, nonetheless.
Every time she hears it, she cringes, "My God, I was so flat.
I always respond with, "It's real." And that's something about the Internet that I think opens many more doors, even if you never get a recording contract or even "nail it." You can share your rawness, for whatever it's worth, and let people decide for themselves whether they want to listen to you.
There is so much talent out there that goes beyond the mainstream. There's so much worth finding and listening to and watching. YouTube has proven this. So has Soundcloud.
The reality is that in order for someone to enjoy something, it doesn't always have to be polished. Sometimes you just capture the moment and the essence of real people having fun and just being themselves. And I think there's still great value in that.
This rendition of my guitar playing or my sister singing will never win any awards. We'll never have our doors knocked down by a music producer. But at the same time, it's a moment between her and I that lives forever, that for whatever it's worth, has its own relevance.
We recorded this in 2002, and I wouldn't change it, even if she's flat, even if my guitar playing wasn't perfect...
It is ours.

I enjoyed listening. I had to read all the way through,( but I always do) trying to connect your chicken to the post. No go. I bet it was yummy when done, though.

I have often put pictures of food with things I have posted musically over the years, here and everywhere else. I think somewhere in the back of my mind I equate something like say, this chicken here, as being quite vulnerable and exposed. He's going to have to endure the heat regardless of whether that is good or bad ultimately. In my mind I like to think there's a correlation. If nothing else, perhaps it just gets someone's attention anyway. lol

In other words just do your thing, be yourself & enjoy whatever it is
your doing & don't think about what other people think or say.

This is such a beautiful and profound perspective
You've perfectly captured why art and connection matter far beyond technical perfection. That recording is a priceless time capsule of a real, shared moment with your sister. Its value isn't in its polish, but in its genuine emotion and the memory it holds forever. Thanks for sharing this wonderful story and reminder.
