I love brats and Italian sausages, I'm not going to lie. Perhaps it's the German in me. We like our wurst.
Wir sind Deutsche. Wir mögen unsere Wurst. Es ist einfach gutes Essen.
Hopefully Google Translate did that justice. I don't actually speak any German.
But I like them cooked any way I can eat them. On the grill. In the frying pan. Stewed. Or in the crockpot.
Give me a bratwurst cooked in sauerkraut slow cooked in a crockpot any day of the week and you will find me "So glücklich wie eine Lerche," or happy as a lark.
But if I do them on the grill or even in a frying pan, I always parboil them first. Usually in beer. It helps to sort of pre-cook them, so they are done on the inside but not burnt on the outside to get them just right.
Do you like brats? How do you cook them? What's your favorite dish with brats? Do you parboil them first? What's your favorite way to eat them?

@LindaOHio I wouldn't think so. But come on. Never had a brat? Ever? How is this even possible? lol

I like sausages but British ones are a bit different to German ones so I don't know if that makes a difference. We often cook them in the oven, and I also like them in the slow cooker with onions and apples. But no, I don't parboil them first.

@Traceyjayne Weird. No. Really. I find that rather odd. lol
Europe is the least likely to have European products?

You would think they WOULD have them there. They are definitely European considering bratwurst is German and Italians are obviously Italian. lol Those places are closer to you than they are to us. But of course, we have a LONG heritage of Italians, Germans and Poles who migrated here long ago and so we still enjoy a lot of the foods they brought here with them.

Don’t remember the last time I had a brat lol. But I’ve had something similar with a different kind of meat. Don’t remember if I parboiled them or not though.
