Have You Ever Left Your Country To Go On Vacation?

This morning's poll question on Bing gave me a chuckle.
It was "Have you ever left your country to go on vacation?" Unfortunately I neglected to see the results of the poll to see what percentage of people had.
My best friend and I are what you would call "well-traveled." I've been to 104 countries and 50-ish cruises and she's been to 90 countries and 90-ish cruises. We get around for a couple of old ladies.
Now we're not snobs, I promise you that, but we get tickled when we'll overhear a conversation next to us, like for example on a cruise, where someone will say, "Well, I've been on 7 cruises and I know everything there is to know about cruising." We keep our mouths shut but later we say softly to each other, "Amateur!" Haha. We don't brag about our travels, we just enjoy them and find it "cute" when other people portray themselves as "experts" with significantly less experience than we have.
So to answer the question, yes, I have left my country (USA) to go on vacation.
Have you?

Oh my days …..are you ever at home !!! I don’t think you are a lady at all, I think you are a beautiful butterfly, flitting around the world …..how on earth do you fit it all in ? Are there 106 hours in your day ? Are there 78678 weeks in your year !!! From your posts I know that you travel a lot but I didn’t realise just how much . I am so jealous . When people say …if money was no object what would you do ….i always answer. “ I would see the world “…..
I have been abroad 7 times in my life …..although more are being planned ….

@LooeyVille wow , that’s even more amazing ….
The problem with my situation is my Mom is a very bad traveller and we had to book two weeks holiday as she always was ill through travelling and two days at the beginning and end of the holiday were lost through illness…
Since being with The Mister , I have my school holidays …..mainly in the Summer, whereas his job means he has mainly December / January off …the Winter months ….it makes it tricky to have holidays abroad without losing wages……oh how I long to retire ….

I truly hope for you a good recovery from your broken arm and that you get to do more traveling in your future. Did I mention that I didn't get out of the country until 2009? I've done all this in 16 years.

Of course, but the United States is so big it doesn’t surprise me if people haven’t left the U.S. One lady I know who lives in Florida made a road trip to Oregon. If we had been Europe she would have traveled to several countries. But the place is so big it seems kind of common to have not gone out of country. I am surprised though by people who live say, in California, and have never been to Mexico. Or a New Yorker who never went to Canada.

I’ve left my country while on vacation, but never to “go on” vacation. I haven’t been more than two miles from the border (in Mexico and in Canada), if that counts.

@looeyville I suppose it’s a lot easier for Europeans to hop across a border on holiday than it is for Americans. Paris is a 2 hour flight from Belfast. If you take a package tour a week in Spain from here it is for peanuts.

Just twice to Bermuda and once to Mexico and about 3 times to Canada.
