Down a Damn Twenty

I like money. In fact, I love money. Not to the point I really collect it. In other words, I won't be at the flea market, where there are often many booths selling various currency and coins, but I do keep a couple of "rarer" things around. I have some dinars from the Central Bank of Kuwait my sister brought home after her six-month tour with the Air Force during Operation Iraqi Freedom, when she was in Kuwait and Iraq. I have a couple of 20 peso bills from Mexico I had left from when we were vacationing there. I have a series 1988 $10 bill, a 2003 and 1995 $5 bills, which I kept mainly because they are two older designs no longer being printed. I also have a 1953 $5 silver certificate my grandfather gave me some years back. I have a 2017 $2 bill and also one from 1976. I have an oddball $1 bill from, as it says, 1969, that had Washington rubbed out and an incomplete picture of Richard Nixon on it. That one I have never been able to figure out. Is it a joke? Real? Counterfeit? I did a lot of research at one point and came up completely blank. I also have a $1 bill I received back in change that shows it's from 1963 and is pretty good condition considering how old it is. None of these bills is really worth more than face value. But I like them anyway, and maybe one day I will pass them down. Someday they might be worth something. And just today I received an older style series 1993 $20 bill, from the ATM machine no less when I went to grab some cash today. I just couldn't resist holding onto it. So, it now sits in my envelope where I keep the other "unique" bills. In a way, I'm not out $20 in keeping it, but I am considering I won't be spending it. So, for all intents and purposes... I'm down a damn twenty. Do you have any "collectible" bills, or older currency you have gained and kept? If you got an older bill back in change would you keep it, or spend it? ***Pictures still not working.***

Considering none of mine are worth anything, I probably shouldn't bother to keep any of this stuff. I just can't help myself. lol

Our currency here stayed the same for decades. Almost a century in fact. Now we change it often. It's costing me a fortune holding onto the older stuff. lol

All I have is a bunch of $2 bills. I was thinking of selling them on ebay.

What would you expect to get for them? They're only worth face value.

I have a pretty large box full with "collectible" bills and coins, some very old coins. I will check if I can find a place where to sell those things.

@porwest The past year I sold to an antique store an ancient Roman coin and it was worth quite a good money.

I think I still have a 2 dollar bill that my uncle gave me. I also have some coins that my grandfather had saved. I can't remember the date on those.

Like I said, they aren't worth anything, really. Not sure why I actually keep them other than I like them. I suppose that's a good enough reason.

@LindaOHio My bank has a coin counting machine, so I don't have to wrap them. I just dump them into the machine, it spits out a ticket with the total, I take that slip to the teller and she asks whether I want cash or to make a deposit.

I don't keep many coins. I might hold onto a 50 cent piece or something "unique." But there's nothing I can really think of off the top of my head that I have right now when it comes to coins.
